The Field Sessions: Offered Daily

Field sessions make Amsterdam our studio. Develop essential skills in observation, composition, and visual storytelling

Choose the path you want to take through the city

Street Photography

Capture decisive moments while training your eye to see clearly and intentionally.

Learn to see strong compositions in everyday moments. We’ll work on observation, timing, light, and framing while walking through Amsterdam’s streets — focusing less on gear and more on how to think visually.

You’ll work on:

  • Seeing scenes before they fully unfold

  • Using light, layering, and gesture effectively

  • Developing confidence shooting in public spaces

Urban Sketching

Translate the city’s architecture and atmosphere into sketches that train observation and structure.

Learn to draw confidently on location while developing believable perspective and a stronger sense of observation. We’ll work with ink and pigment in the city, focusing on clarity, structure, and personal expression rather than perfection.

You’ll work on:

  • Creating convincing perspective and depth in real spaces

  • Capturing authentic scenes directly from observation

  • Building confidence drawing on location

Street Photography & Sketching

Use camera and sketchbook to strengthen observation, composition, and visual clarity.

Photography captures the light; sketching captures the structure. We use the pen to slow down—to map the geometry and weight of a street before we ever lift the camera. It is a dual discipline designed to move you past the 'snapshot' and into a more intentional, lasting way of seeing.

You’ll work on:

  • Observing light, gesture, and structure in real time

  • Translating moments into both photographs and sketches

  • Making clearer compositional decisions on location
