Workshops in Ink & Light
Studies for the Intentional Artist
01. The Field Clinic
The Reset
€395 for 1 or 2 artists • 2.5 Hours
Focus: Technical Diagnostic & Reset
The Goal: Replace lucky snapshots with intentional frames.
Stop hunting and start authoring. In this workshop we identify and remove "Technical Friction"—the reactive habits and digital noise that stall momentum. With lens or pen we establish a 15-second observation protocol to ensure you decode the geometry of a scene before engaging the shutter or the page. You will leave with a repeatable workflow to document stories with intention anywhere in the world.
02. The Field Masterclass
The Visual Essay
€695 for 1 or 2 artists • 6 Hours
Focus: Tradecraft & Technique
The Goal: Build a "Visual Essay" in ink or light.
Move from isolated captures to a cohesive narrative in a single day workshop. This 6-hour study teaches the 9-shot protocol—a structured field method used to assemble a narrative from the urban environment. Applying the OODA Loop, you learn to define a "Stage" and wait for the intersection of subject and vision in your frame. We then move beyond the single frame to focus on the observation cycles and sequencing required to document anywhere you go with professional-grade intent.
Focus: Deep Residency & Narrative Identity
The Goal: Total Creative Independence
Define a permanent visual voice. This immersive, multi-day residency-style workshop is for the practitioner intent on producing a definitive body of work. We navigate the entire arc of a professional project—from the initial creative brief and field research to the high-level curation of a professional portfolio. You will master curation, learning to move beyond the "good" to identify the "essential," while establishing an individual methodology and style that survives any environment.

Gear:
“Leica-centric”, but not Leica-exclusive. We focus on manual control and intentionality. Whether you bring a rangefinder, a sketchbook, a DSLR, or a smartphone, we strip away the automation and replace the reactive chase with focused storytelling.
Bespoke:
Completely customized to suit your schedule, skills, and learning targets. Strictly 1:1 or 1:2 (if you bring a partner). Focused, private, and dedicated.
Logistics & Standards
Weather:
As we say here, “je bent niet van suiker gemaakt”—you’re not made of sugar. We shoot and sketch in the Amsterdam weather. It’s part of the story and experience. Waterproof ink and layered clothing are our standard, and we curate a list of locations that ensure success regardless of weather.
Location:
Amsterdam is a 750-year-old city full of iconic locations. We will move through them but avoid the crowds and clichéd locations
